Project
The Lodge Wadjemup

A UNIQUE, LOW-IMPACT ISLAND DEVELOPMENT THAT REFLECTS THE RELAXED INFORMALITY OF WESTERN AUSTRALIA’S MUCH-LOVED ROTTNEST.

Key Aspects

Welcoming to both guests and Island visitors, The Lodge Wadjemup has expanded Rottnest’s accommodation, food, beverage and tourism offer following a $50+ million transformation of the former Karma Rottnest site.

Place Development led the successful bid for the project with State Government and the Rottnest Island Authority in May 2021 and has since managed the development delivery alongside a carefully curated consortium of best-in-class Western Australian consultants.

The existing site is now transformed into a 109-room resort offering a range of mixed accommodation types with courtyard, lake and poolside rooms and food and beverage venues ‘Sunsets’ - an open bar and dining space and; ‘Pelican’ kiosk, serving coffee, softserve and more.

The Gathering Ground sits at the heart of The Lodge Wadjemup - a peaceful space shaped in close collaboration with traditional custodian Elders, comprising local Noongar artists and island stories, created as a place to pause, reflect and connect.

The Lakeside Function & Events Centre caters to conferences, functions and relaxed celebrations.

Works commenced June 2022 with a staged opening from December 2024.
